Olympic Moments: Celebrities at Alberta House
There have been several well-known visitors and Olympic athletes who have come to Alberta House to enjoy some Albertan cuisine and hospitality. One of our favorites is Wayne Gretzky. He has stopped by a few times to enjoy a quiet lunch. Today when he happened to be in the House at the same time as Minister Ted Morton, Minister Luke Ouellette, my husband Don and I, we snapped this picture. We are proud of our athletes…both past and present!
Olympic Moments: Wildlife in Whistler
Being at the Olympics has provided so many opportunities to meet colleagues, partners, and the public. In this picture, Hon. Ida Chong, Minister of Sport for British Columbia and I were just heading into a meeting with representatives of two international sport organizations. Our provinces have agreed to work together to attract World Cup and other major sporting events in order to benefit both our athletes and our local business. The meetings were very helpful in order to discuss several sport venues we have in our two provinces and start discussions on when and where those major events could be.
Olympic Moments:The Darling of the Tracks
The Alberta Train is not only memorable to ride but has become quite popular with those who are watching it go by as well. Folks who took a bus up to Whistler, and from the village to the venues, are recognizing the train and snapping pictures of the colourful cars with the natural beauty behind. In addition to corporate sales, the public can purchase tickets to ride the train by calling 1-888-370-4965. It will be an experience you never forget - international travellers, celebrities, business people, athletes (past and present), and residents of BC all rave about their experience on the Alberta Train!
Town Hall Meetings
Once the Olympics are over, it will be time to focus on some of the issues facing government in the months ahead. I have scheduled three town hall meetings in March which I encourage you to attend. These meetings are an opportunity for you to discuss government priorities as you see them, and I look forward to meeting you.
