Cindy lives in Calgary Shaw with her husband Don, centre. Their sons (l-r) Brent, Justin, Jeffrey and Scott are pursuing various post-secondary studies.
Cindy Ady was elected to her third term as Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary Shaw on March 3, 2008. In addition to her role as MLA, Cindy serves as Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation.
Cindy studied communications at Utah’s Brigham Young University between 1975 and 1979. She was awarded first place honours at the Collegiate National Speech Competition in Washington D.C. in both 1976 and 1977.
Prior to election as an MLA, Cindy was a self-employed community development consultant. She spearheaded a proposal and business plan for Centennial High School, which opened in September 2004 in Calgary. She also helped four other communities develop successful proposals for provincial funding for new schools.
As a community volunteer, Cindy helped build MidSun Junior High School by mobilizing the community, securing local and provincial funding, and managing building negotiations.
Cindy was a member of several Calgary Board of Education committees to address the issue of surplus facility space. She helped develop a community-based approach to handling the problem through Learning Environment Action Plan (LEAP). She was also a member of the steering committee that conducted an independent review of the Calgary Board of Education’s financial situation in 1997/98.
Previously, Cindy was owner of a custom home construction business, managing operations from the foundation stage to completion.
Cindy and her husband, Don, live in Calgary Shaw where they raised their four sons: Justin, Jeffrey, Scott, and Brent. Cindy is the daughter-in-law of former MLA for Cardston-Taber-Warner, Jack Ady. |
